Happy Father’s Day

We’re giving a heartfelt shout-out to all the dads out there.

From our first memories riding high atop dad’s shoulders to watching our friends and brothers become fathers for the first time, we are in awe of all those dudes working overtime to earn the sacred title, “World’s Greatest Dad.”

We see you armed with wipes and bravely changing that diaper for the very first time. We appreciate you accidentally sacrificing your eyebrows in the name of lighting that backyard BBQ. We’ll also never forget all the wise words of advice, the loving shoulder to cry on, and the endless patience we’ve experienced throughout the years.

Our lives have been irreparably changed and enhanced by our experiences with our pops, godfathers, grandpas, stepdads, and beloved father figures. We want to share just a few of our favorite memories with some of the dads out there. From the Grit & Grace Studio Family to yours, may you have a wonderful Father’s Day!

Our Favorite Memories with Dad

Rachel:

My daddy is a character, and I have many memorable moments with him. A few of my favorites include him cheering me on from the sidelines, bellowing, “GO PUNKIN’” from the top of his burly lungs, and texting me every. single. morning, “Good morning Punkin, I love you,” and watching him being an adoring grandfather to four littles. He is a sweet man with a big ole heart, and I’m grateful to call Danny Roland Gordon, my father.

Stevie:

One of my favorite memories of my dad and me is when we drove to Jupiter, Florida on a family vacation. After hours of driving, we arrived in Jupiter and immediately went to the beach to enjoy the sunset. As soon as we got to the beach, we were surprised to see tons of baby turtles making their journey to the ocean for the first time. My dad and I were so stoked to see this with our own eyes. We worked to keep the seagulls away from the baby turtles, and we ended up ensuring that they all made it safely. It was so cool.

Reese:

My dad is the backbone of our family in so many ways. He carries the weight of every crisis, and he takes care of everyone, including extended family, family friends, and even the guys who happen to be working on the house or yard. He also works a lot (like, A LOT), so since I was little, we've always made a point to have daddy-daughter date nights just the two of us for some quality time.

We get dressed up and go to a restaurant and order all the decadent, unhealthy things my mom doesn't let us eat at home. Today, the tradition continues. My pops takes my two nieces out for granddaddy-daughter date nights... and I hope they're also secretly splitting that chocolate lava cake.

Ragan:

Here’s my dad trying to take a picture with me out on the pier in 2014. Obviously, I didn’t want to cooperate.

But it is so easy to see in this photo how loving, kind, and compassionate my big teddy bear of a dad is. I love him so much, and I am incredibly grateful for all of the lessons he’s taught me.

Gail:

Shoutout to my best friend, who is embracing new fatherhood with charisma and calm. This shot is Bear’s first time in ocean water. He already approaches things like his dad- with fearless curiosity and confidence.

Locksley:

My dad Peter Henley, is an artist, heart and soul. One of my favorite memories of growing up with my dad has to be watching him gather and organize his painting supplies. He used art as an outlet, an expression of his joy, and how he saw the world on canvas.

One of my favorite jobs was helping him mix his paints together and watching them change from one color to the next. From an early age, I knew I wanted to learn all I could from him. He is kind, creative, fierce, giving, and has shown me the beauty in honing a craft and working hard. Love you, Dad.

Elisa:

I’m so thankful to have this man in my life, as he has always been there for me anytime I have asked. He has taught me so much in life and leads by example. I’m very proud to call him my father.

Clayr:

To all our adventures, past and future. Thank you for showing me strength, courage, and confidence, as well as humor and goofiness.

Dad, you have taught me both laughter and bravery, intelligence and heart, and I love you very much. I can’t dream of being anyone else’s daughter.
